To keep your belongings safe, organized, and easy to access, follow these packing and stacking tips:

1. Use Sturdy, Uniform Boxes:

  • Choose strong, good quality boxes that won’t crush under weight.
  • Uniform sizes stack more safely and efficiently.
  • Avoid overpacking, boxes should close flat and be easy to lift.

2. Label Everything Clearly

  • Mark all sides of each box with the contents and room category.
  • Use large, bold labels or colorcoded tape to make finding items easier.

3. Protect Fragile Items

  • Wrap delicate items in bubble wrap, packing paper, or foam.
  • Clearly label boxes as FRAGILE.
  • Place fragile boxes on top of heavier, sturdier items.

4. Place Heavy Items on the Bottom

  • Start with heavier boxes and sturdy furniture at the base to create a stable foundation.
  • Stack lighter items on top to prevent crushing or shifting.

5. Leave an Aisle for Access

  • Create a small walkthrough aisle in the center of your unit.
  • Keep frequently needed items near the front for easy retrieval.

6. Use Furniture to Your Advantage

  • Store dressers, cabinets, or bookshelves upright to save space.
  • Fill drawers and shelves with light, soft items like linens or clothing.

7. Disassemble Large Furniture

  • Break down beds, tables, and large pieces when possible.
  • Tape screws, bolts, and hardware to the furniture or place them in a clearly labeled bag.

8. Keep Items Off the Floor When Possible

  • Use pallets, shelves, or plastic bins to keep boxes slightly elevated.
  • This improves airflow and adds an extra layer of protection.

9. Protect Against Dust and Moisture

  • Cover furniture and mattresses with protective plastic or moving blankets.
  • Use sealed plastic bins for documents, electronics, or fabrics you want to keep extra safe.

10. Load the Unit Strategically

  • Put seasonal or rarely used items in the back.
  • Store essential or frequently accessed items at the front for quick grab-and-go convenience.
